You gave up on conventional wisdom long ago. The way to a man’s heart? Forget baked goods; it’s through his NCAA bracket. And the road to hell? Paved with Barneys receipts (at least, in your case).
So you won’t mind scrambling your sayings tomorrow — when Dine for Darfur lets you ride the road to your belly on a wave of good intentions.
Cooked up by the geniuses at Chow Foods, the project has more than 80 neighborhood restaurants, bars, and coffee shops donating 25 percent of the day’s sales to Darfur relief efforts.
Not that you need an excuse to rally your friends for donuts at Top Pot, dinner at Lark, or pints at King’s Hardware. But knowing that each sip or bite will bring the organizers one step closer to their goal of raising $100,000 for Northwest-based Mercy Corps will make everything taste that much sweeter.
And no matter what anyone else says, that’s just plain smart.
Dine for Darfur takes place Tuesday, April 3. For more information, go to dinefordarfur.org.
