Luck Meet a Lady
The Ruby Room

Even without a ring on your finger, you’ve always suspected all that “something old, something new” business would never bring good luck. (One time you put six pennies in your shoe; all you got was a sore foot.)
But there may just be some truth to the “something borrowed” part — the folks at The Ruby Room certainly think so. They collect new (and almost-new) formal dresses and accessories year-round and give them to lower-income Seattle-area high schoolers come prom time. (We know: So sweet, eh?)
So drop off your gently used finery (dresses, shoes, jewelry, handbags) at locations around town. They’ll use it to fill their boutique and let prom-goers shop for free.
You can also volunteer to help teach monthly life-skills classes — like how to save for college or change a tire in a dress.
Because if there’s one thing you know, it’s that you can’t always count on luck.
The Ruby Room, 1518 First Avenue South (206-439-7575 or rubyroomseattle.org).
