Papa, Don’t Preach

Here in Seattle, green is the new black. Everyone brakes for bikers. And friends don’t let friends support sweatshops.

In other words, material girls are as passé as fingerless lace gloves.

Unless, that is, the girl in question is local designer Beth Nielsen. Before it was in vogue, Nielsen launched her Vintage Creations label working exclusively with recycled and vintage fabrics.

We’ve had our eye on her work since last season, but we fell in love with her floaty trapeze tops this spring. Each is made from super-high-quality silk fabric scraps from designers like Anna Sui, Corey Lynn Calter, and Nanette Lepore.

Equally darling belted or worn loose, the socially conscious floral, cherry, and geometric print tops come in limited quantities. So they’ll make you feel like a true original with the purest of morals.

Or, you know, like a virgin.
