Why So Sheepish?
Black Sheep Bakery Vegan Mixes

First it was your colleague’s trashy date (downed three chardonnays to every plate). Then your S.O.’s stuffy grad school pal (found Proustian significance in your pommes frites). Like families, every dinner party has a black sheep.
But your BF’s announcing that she’d gone vegan as you were mixing the flan took the cake.
If you can’t beat them, join them. At least that’s what Amanda Felt did, opening Portland’s excellent vegan Black Sheep Bakery when a girlfriend crossed to the herbivorous side.
Felt ships her rich, moist, can’t-believe-it’s-not-real-batter mixes anywhere in the country. Just add maple syrup, unsweetened applesauce, and water or fruit juice. Everything is super easy to make (ours went from bag to belly in twenty minutes) and surprisingly delicious.
So the next time Picky comes to dinner, have a batch of Everything But Your Momma cookies or sweet cornmeal muffins baking in the oven. Be sure to ask her to keep you apprised of any other dietary restrictions.
No more bleating around the bush.
