Once was no problem. Doubling didn’t make you flinch. But when your playground nemesis mustered the cojones to add a dog to that dare, you were powerless to resist.
So you’ll be putty in the hands of Urban Dare, a one-day Amazing Race-esque game that double dog dares you to sprint through the city, solving clues, completing tasks, and snapping pics along the way.
Bring a camera, phone, running shoes, and a partner who won’t slow you down. (Sorry, honey, your map-reading skills are for shite.) After answering trivia questions at Victor Steinbrueck Park, follow clues to citywide checkpoints where you’ll take dares like catching a fish at Pike Place Market or scaling REI’s climbing wall.
Past events in L.A., Chicago, Boston, and D.C. have seen serious competition, so be prepared to pull out all stops (like a home-based Googler on call).
Last one to the finish line’s a rotten egg.
Race starts Saturday, October 6, at noon, at Victor Steinbrueck Park, 2000 Western Avenue. To register, go to urbandare.com.
