Taxicab Confessions

Anna’s Ride Home

Some things (Nutella and peanut butter, Prada and Topshop, Arthur & Yu) make exquisite combos. Others (drinking and driving) do not.

So don’t forget Anna’s Ride Home when making New Year’s party plans.

Founded by a Medina couple who lost their (sober) daughter to a drunk driving accident, the program w0rks with cab companies to provide ride vouchers that hosts can pass out at will. Have guests contribute or foot the bill yourself, but rest assured that the sots will get home safe.

The nonprofit also partners with local bars — from the shady (Cowgirls Inc.) to the respectable (The Baltic Room) — splitting the cost with owners to take care of the truly sauced. So consider suggesting that your favorite spot add the service. They may not listen.

But it’s certainly worth a shot.
