Enabler
n. One that enables another to achieve an end, often referring to paycheck-draining behavior such as fine dining, self-pampering, and buying beautiful bags.
Who, us?
No comment. But we’ve certainly got the wisdom to change the things we can — starting with Mint.com, a free new money-management site that whips personal finances into shape.
Ignore the site’s section on credit card deals (hey, everybody’s gotta make a buck); the genius part is its ability to monitor all of your accounts from one (they swear) hacker-safe place — while automatically charting your spending habits, balancing your checkbook, and creating monthly budgets.
Finding out exactly how much you spend each month at, say, Zeitgeist or Barneys can be unsettling, but facing facts can also make you feel empowered.
And mighty pleased to be getting with the program.
