You went to Florence to explore the Uffizi; instead, you explored the gelaterias.
You soon discovered that you’d never look at ice cream the same way again.
Satisfy your grieving taste buds at Poco Carretto, a new mobile gelato and sorbetto cart from Holly Smith (Cafe Juanita).
Smith’s sixteen rotating flavors are handmade from mostly local, organic, seasonal ingredients (and served in biodegradable paperware, natch). Try not-too-sweet avocado lime, stracciatelle, fennel seed, or pinenut brittle. Battle hot summer days with Lillet Blanc or charentais melon sorbetti, or go for our fave: burnt sugar gelato, which tastes like the crispy skin of a roasted marshmallow.
Catch Smith’s debut at the Fremont Market this week or hire Poco Carretto for a private bash.
To which you certainly won’t invite every Tom, Dick, Ben, or Jerry.
Poco Carretto (425-823-1505 or pococarretto.com). Available Sundays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Fremont Market, 600 North 34th Street; Thursdays, starting June 19, 3-7 p.m., Bellevue Farmers Market, 1717 Bellevue Way Northeast.
