Capital Grains

Bluebird Grain Farms

Big Bird: Whatcha eatin’, Cookie Monster?

Cookie Monster: Cooookie! (Crumbs fly.)

BB: I thought you switched to a healthier diet.

CM: Bird, these are lemon ginger cooookies made with Bluebird Grain Farms’s whole-grain fine flour. The farm uses sustainable practices, irrigates with mountain water, rotates crops, and sells directly to markets.

BB: Geesh, that’s great!

CM: The heirloom grain, emmer farro, can be tolerated by those with wheat allergies and adds a rich flavor to gourmet pastas and breads. It comes as a grain, flour, cereal, or pancake mix, and the website has recipes. You should whip up the Quick Rye Bread; the heavier grain will make even you more full of it.

BB: Aw, shut your cookie hole!

CM: Big pecker. (Furry fists fly.)
