Your weave? Nasty. (Not the one on your head, the one on your floor.)
Customize your space with a rug by Dorjé Contemporary.
Local designer and weaver Rachel Meginnes partnered with Indian husband and wife Passang Dorjee and Sonam Choden to create a carpet company that spans the globe, as well as ordinary floors.
Meginnes can map out any desired look in her Capitol Hill studio. Once your design has been set, Meginnes sends the plan to Sikkim, India, where Dorjee and Choden work with local weavers to hand-spin wool, dye, weave, and finish a rug with its own unique story.
Each piece uses traditional Tibetan techniques and wool. And all employees are provided with health care — as well as free education for their children.
Neatly avoiding any hairy situations.
