The Wheel World

Among the city’s fixed gears, bike messenger gangs, and Critical Mass protests, you might as well have training wheels on a Huffy.

Oh, yes, and you’d like metallic streamers on your handlebars, too.

Expand your two-wheel skills beyond the apologetic sorry-I-almost-threw-myself-in-front-of-your-car smile at Cascade Bicycle Club’s Urban Cycling Techniques course, which is offered every other month.

The bike gurus will hone your commuter tactics with classroom and road instruction on interacting with traffic, repairing flats, signaling, and more. You’ll also get your helmet fitted and learn what to do in case of an emergency.

Graduates can take the League of American Bicyclists’s exam for true street cred. Or just rejoice that cycling isn’t so hard.

If not quite as easy as riding a trike.
