Bird on a Wire

FADE IN:
Location: Second Avenue
Early evening. The city bustles with people leaving work and beginning the weekend.

CLOSE SHOT: Storefront
A crowd gathers at a gallery.

MED. SHOT: Interior Gallery
Suddenly, a mysterious infestation of birds overtakes the room, hovering above the group, attached to walls, cascading in flocks. The crowd shrieks with delight at beautiful wire sculptures by Seattle artist Shelli Markee.

Markee hand-forges and works simple wire into Calder-esque fowl that resemble airborne sketches. Each pays a distinct and haunting tribute to flight and feathers.

AERIAL SHOT: Exterior
Birds and partygoers depart into the night.

FADE OUT:
The end. Not by a long shot.

Artist reception, tonight, 6-9 p.m. at Fancy, 1914 Second Avenue (206-956-2945 or fancyjewels.com). For more information, go to shellimarkee.blogspot.com.
