When there is art to be seen, there are usually those with an art for being seen. (Gallerinas, art stalkers, you know who you are.)
Tomorrow evening Ballard’s beau monde will gather to toast motion picture and design studio Society Co.’s new showroom, a wee space that will doubtless reach capacity, causing the celebration to trickle onto the street.
Society Co. proprietor and self-described maker of things, Jason Faulkner, will be in attendance. The mastermind behind shop interiors at Blackbird, A Mano, Lambs Ear, and Ten Pachi along with music videos and documentaries brings his undeniable gift for recognizing a room’s potential.
Besides a predictably illustrious crowd, expect to see Bad Ideas, an exhibition of posters by Northwest artists (including Art Chantry) set to live music. A zine by Carlos Ruiz and friends and a soundtrack from bands featured on the posters will also be for sale.
No doubt they’ll all be making a scene.
Opening reception, Thursday, 8 p.m., at Society Co. Showroom, 2221 Northwest 56th Street, suite 203 (societyco.blogspot.com).
