Lately Charity seems exclusive to black-tie galas, auctions, and dinners. She goes where the red carpets, society shutterbugs, and free-flowing bubbly are.
Yet we remember her when. Back before the kissy salutations and deductible zeros. (Sigh. Head shake.)
Seattle-based Flash Volunteer is just the thing to turn cause celebre back to good old grassroots altruism.
The new website allows users to network within their neighborhoods or areas of interest (art, environment, animals, homeless, and more), coordinate their own community activity, send messages to friends about upcoming events, or post where they’ll contribute hours. Neighbors can check in on a daily basis to see where they’re needed, interact, and share their free time.
Flash is entirely volunteer run, too. In fact, they could use a helping hand from generous programmers and promoters right now.
It’s the kind of involvement you just can’t write off.
