’Tis the season when you keep an eye out for elves — of the Keebler variety. Anything to save you from playing emergency cookie medic with clumpy frosting or pronouncing your baked goods DOA.
Grab your friends for instruction, a guiding hand, and an old-fashioned treats exchange. NuCulinary’s holiday cookie-decorating workshop offers more than just Christmas-colored sprinkles.
In two plus hours, you’ll learn to make creamy caramels, chocolate-dipped fortune cookies, white chocolate cranberry slices, Russian tea cakes, dainty snowflake sugar cookies, vanilla and chocolate cutout cookies, and royal icing. While the goodies bake, Naomi Kakiuchi will show you how to flood icing, cover sweets in chocolate, and create frosting designs.
Every pupil leaves with a platter of desserts.
And doesn’t have to deal with all this cookie sheet alone.
Tuesday, December 8, 6 p.m., at Nisei Veterans Clubhouse Kitchen, 1212 South King Street. To reserve your place or for more information, go to cookingschoolsofamerica.com. Spots will be created based on demand.
