Thunderbitch: Women Designers in Northwest Rock 1966-2010
What:
Peruse more than 40 years’ worth of music paraphernalia (DIY fliers, top-selling album covers), designed by female artists like Lynda Barry, Alice Wheeler, Ellen Forney, Neko Case, and Catherine Weinstein (a.k.a. Thunderbitch).
Why: An all-star lineup of live musical acts, including Visqueen and Damien Jurado.
When: Thru Aug. 27. Opening reception, Thurs., 5-9 p.m.

Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails: Rum Class
What:
The women-only booze-education event aims to preserve and celebrate historic recipes and rituals of femme drink slingers past and present.
Why: Local bartender Marley Tomic Beard offers suggestions of what to do with the potent spirit.
When: Sat., 1-3 p.m.

Dutch Bike Co. Cafe Opens
What:
The stylish boutique moves to more spacious, quasi-industrial digs with a giant hand-crank front window and a Delft Pottery wall mural of Ballard.
Why: Pedal on over for ice cream sandwiches, macarons, and Lighthouse coffee.
When: Cafe, Mon.-Fri., 6 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sat. & Sun., 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Bike shop, daily, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Xanadu: a Stately Pleasure Dome
What:
The dreamy exhibit pays homage to Coleridge’s opium-induced poetry — as well as the 1980 cult film classic — through drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture.
Why: A firsthand look at the melted ceramic roller skates worn by Olivia Newton-John.
When: Thru Aug. 28. Opening reception, Thurs., 6-8 p.m. Gallery hours, Wed.-Sat., noon-5 p.m. Artist talk, Aug. 14, 2 p.m.
