The Refrigeraider
La Dolce Lulu’s Vegan Baked Goods
Friday’s wee-hour pancetta and pineapple on rye sent you through the roof, but Saturday’s leftover ceviche omelets landed you squarely in a much less fun part of your house.
Still mastering culinary risk-taking? Leave it to Lindsey Walsworth at La Dolce Lulu to make a case for edible, delectable vegan and gluten-free baked goods.
The young nanny literally waked and baked her way through high school “sick days” and wound up with mixes that customers go crazy for.
For breakfast, tuck into homemade waffle and pancake mixes, maple brown sugar muffins, and scones mixed with cranberry/orange and pumpkin.
Later, slice into flavor-rich cakes like agave nectar vanilla, margarita, and Mayan chocolate spice. And mint, ganache, and lime buttercream frosting are sure to ravage your palate.
And still leave you well enough to leave the house.

The Chocolate Bar Opens
Veruca Salt was having a very bad day. Contrary to popular belief, being dumped down a garbage chute doesn’t make you a good person. Nor does it inspire you to start a ’90s alt rock band.
Shoulda looked into that royalties lawsuit, she thought, schlepping through Decatur Square.
Then she saw it. Was it? It was! A chocolate, well, bar. That’s the ticket!
She entered The Chocolate Bar, her mouth watering at the sight of chip-size cocoa nibs, milk chocolate squares, and cocoa-dusted marshmallow pulls — all within arm’s reach.
“I want a chocolate martini now!” she demanded.
“You’re welcome,” said owner Karen Britain, serving the signature concoction of syrup, Godiva liqueur, and creme.
Veruca slurped it down and ordered everything on the menu — from artisanal cheeses to K Chocolat truffles.
This day’s getting better by the second, she thought.
It was something even she could wait in line for.

Shaken, Then Stirred
Mobile Mixologists Liquidchefs
The last storm you whipped up in your kitchen? More than a slight chance you passed off professional work as your very own.
Which makes your call to Liquidchefs that much easier to swallow.
Co-owners Michael Kuniansky and Craig Weiner customize drink menus to fit the occasion, down to the mixers (sweet or sour?), color scheme (electric blue? crystal clear?), and garnishes (rock candy? butterscotch shavings?).
Barmen arrive (sleek Lucite bar in tow) and sling drinks at your bachelorette shindig or office soiree. They can handle up to 500 guests (and really threw down at last summer’s Fashion Cares tents).
And just like that, you’ll again get away with not lifting a finger.
Except for the occasional cocktail glass.
