Get Tanked
Herff Christiansen’s Tank
We spy with our little eye something adorable.
Give up? Okay: We’ve set our sights on Herff Christiansen’s reinvention of the classic tank. This version shuns the typical cotton in favor of soft French terry and replaces the tired old neckline with fancy ruching to create a sweet, billowy look.
At the moment, the tank comes only in three neutral colors (black, tan, and gray) and two catch-all sizes (small/medium or medium/large). But it’s just the first piece from the label — created by two designers who met while attending business school at the University of Texas — so expect to see more unique items that are sure to become wardrobe standouts.
Any of which should make getting dressed less of a guessing game.
Because you’re definitely getting hotter.

Wurd to Your Mother
Wurd’s Handmade Clutches
You’ve been there and done that. And, er, it shows.
Because certain wardrobe items (baggy pants, overdone highlights, banana clips) tell everyone you’re still on — stop! — Hammer Time.
Update your look with a handmade clutch from Wurd. The brainchild of three ladies — Whitney Graham Carter, Kristin McCabe, and Katherine Wolff — who met while at UT, the operation prides itself on crafting made-to-order bags.
Choose from the sleek Ray Roll and elegant Mini Pearl (both in stingray) or the classy Boss Lady (in ostrich, python, crocodile, or alligator). Each comes in a variety of colors (like olive, honey, and denim). Or you can request a custom version cut from buffalo or suede.
Production time on all orders can take a few weeks, but it’s worth it.
Given that the results are too legit to quit.
Available by phone order (903-284-1425) or e-mail info@wurdtexas.com. To see styles, go to wurdtexas.com. -

Take the Plunge
Cabana’s Fall Merch
With winter temps nowhere in sight, you’re wondering if you stashed your summer clothes prematurely.
Back away from the white shoes (Labor Day has come and gone, buddy) and make a trip to Cabana, Merry Vose’s island-chic boutique.
The tiny shop, which opened quietly in March, is the perfect way to bridge the slow transition to the next season. Though the interior bespeaks a beachy, summer sensibility, Vose has stocked her racks with fall collections to die for, like glam Hunter Dixon dresses and blousy, feminine Tucker coats — plus cozy gifts like deliciously scented Seaton candles.
Vose is that one-of-a-kind shop owner who keeps loyal customers in mind when going to market — so stop by soon. But remember, she opens the place only from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday and Friday.
You wouldn’t want to be left out in the cold.
Cabana, 9115 Devonshire Drive (214-674-9928).
