Straighten Up
Brazilian Keratin Hair Treatment
Sung to the tune of “Straight Up.”
Lost in a dream,
You don’t know which way to go.
A-let us say, the Brazilian Keratin Treatment is all that it seems.
Then, frizzy-haired diva, you’re movin’ way too slow.
You’ve been fooled before.
Wouldn’t you want sleek, smooth shine without products galore?
How about some information, please?(Uh, please, please.)
Straight up now tell me,
Is it really gonna work for me forever?
No, no, no.
You’re gonna be set for three to six months.
Straight up now tell me,
Head straight to Roche, get it together,
Oh, oh, oh.
No more hair always in a bun.Your hair’s standing still,
As you wait four days to wash.
A-let me tell you now, no harsh chemicals to kill.
You gotta know the solution is posh.
You’ve been fooled before.
Wouldn’t want the hair of a sleazy two-bit whore.
That’s all the information, jeez!

Give ’Em the Finger
Crackberry Thumbs and Keyboard Massage
You’ve been doing some serious finger banging lately. You broke the F key during an IM feud and ended up telling your ex to “uck o.” And your BlackBerry-induced carpal tunnel is so bad you’re actually considering a hideous hand brace.
It had to come to this, didn’t it? Okay, time for relief: a Crackberry Thumbs and Keyboard Massage.
Be You Bi Yu’s new treatment addresses the strain and stress caused from overuse of keyboards (no matter what size) and aims to heal any minor problems (no judgments).
Fingers, wrists, and arms are loosened with a relaxing massage. The joints get special attention to get blood flowing. Then hands are coated in coconut milk to soothe and placed in warm mitts to soften.
All you have to do is fight the urge to rip off the mittens and text everyone about how great it feels.

Cut to the Chaser
$12 Shot and Haircut
You drop $250 on “just a trim,” leave the salon crying (over cut and cost), and go drink yourself silly (with a hat on).
There’s just got to be a better way.
There is: The Red & The Black now offers a haircut-and-a-shot deal every Tuesday, 9-11 p.m. Get coiffed and drunk simultaneously in what is officially called I Know a Girl Who Has Big Feet. (Maybe the naming committee drank too much.)
It’s a bargain, too. A cut (from stylist John Cullen of Salon Loule) and a shot of your choice costs just $12. Simplicity is the name of the game, so order your bangs shaped up, ends evened out, or an overall trim, but, please, nothing elaborate.
So though it’s not fancy, it’s definitely time saving and affordable.
And who wouldn’t drink to that?
The Red & The Black, 1212 H Street NE, between 12th and 13th Streets (202-399-3201 or redandblackbar.com).
