V. TO TREAT WITH EXCESSIVE KINDNESS OR CARE; TO INDULGE
They're the spas, services, and indulgence that saved your sanity this year.
Rashida B. Brow Specialist
Rashida B. developed her eyebrow-shaping skills in Chicago at her one-stop arch shop, The B Spot. This winter she began jetting to Miami one week a month to tweeze local brows. A pluck from the much-touted aesthetician is akin to surgery: Everyone will ask what you've had done. Read more
Brow Specialist Rashida B.
Your treatment for anxiety is a bath and a session with Dr. Cabernet. For you, therapy has always been a DIY affair.
Until it came to your eyebrows, where self-analysis revealed an unfinished Mrs. Potato Head.
Leave your eyes to expert Rashida B. The brow guru will be sculpting arches in Miami one week a month, starting March 17. (Hint: Nab an appointment now.)
Rashida analyzes the shape of your face to find your best brow (square or oblong faces need soft arches; round needs angles). She then tweezes each hair individually, creating near-perfect symmetry.
Rashida can teach you to maintain the look for up to eight weeks, during which time you’ll need less makeup, appear more put together, and look younger.
Which should do wonders for your ego.
Available at Metropole, 635 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach. To make an appointment, call 305-735-3392 or go to brows-miami.com.
Vaso Spirou Salon Vaso

In this corner, weighing in at ten frizzy pounds, we have Curly Hair.
In this corner, we have Vaso Spirou of the newly opened self-titled salon.
Vaso bends curls to her every whim. Known for her styling and highlighting prowess, she’s gone toe-to-toe with top models, who bow to her skills.
Curly was defeated in her last five bouts by Humidity. And, man, it was ugly. Salon Vaso is anything but: The black walls and silver-studded leather manicure chairs have a decidedly un-South Beach feel. The full-service salon also houses a small boutique. We expect nothing less from the Queens-born brawler, who designed the second-story space.
If things get hairy, Vaso’s got an ace up her sleeve: Salerm wheat germ straightener hits curls with a chemical-free one-two punch.
Ladies and gents, this fight is sure to end with a TKO.
Total knock out.
Salon Vaso, 1500 Alton Road, 2nd floor, South Beach (305-674-7470 or salonvaso.com).
Anna Elizabeth Lace Beauty Lab
Anna Elizabeth worked as a model and actress in her native L.A. On one of her trips to our shores, she noticed a lack of nail salons. So four years ago she launched Lace Nail Lab. This fall she followed it up with Lace Beauty Lab, a girlie spa and boutique. Read more
Lace Beauty Lab Opens
Some superheroes fly. Others shoot bolts of lightning from their palms. But the Miami Wonder has a unique power: transforming from beach babe to gala girl in mere hours.
Her secret lair: Lace Beauty Lab, where Anna Elizabeth (of Lace Nail Lab) fights nemesis limp hair, evildoer oily skin, and archenemy nothing to wear — all in one fell swoop.
Designed by Doug Meyer, the space, opening today, combines the old-school glamour of Miami circa 1950 with Mediterranean and Moroccan accents. Each area is lit differently, according to its mission (blowouts, facials, massages, makeup application), and there’s a lounge and dressing room where heroes can slip into costume (unitard, cape, La Perla swimwear).
The Lab also carries an arsenal of secret weapons: clothing, accessories, vintage shoes, candles, and beauty products.
Everything to get you ready for the Dark Knight.
Lace Beauty Lab, 500 South Pointe Drive, South Beach (305-532-0190).
