Cool Down
Hot Body Cool Mind Workout
Need a new workout? Probably. If you’re like us, you have the attention span of a gerbil. And the treadmill is an extension of the cubicle maze.
Move on. An exercise regimen at Jennifer Kries’s Hot Body Cool Mind studio incorporates the physical standbys (Pilates, yoga) with a mind-body discipline called Waking Energy.
A combination of qigong, the Five Tibetans (longevity exercises), and yin yoga, Waking Energy stimulates your chi and aligns your chakras. The age-defying practice calms the mind and helps you harness universal energy. That’s the theory (chi rarely comments on the record).
But imagine: Instead of running out for a shot of caffeine, you could channel adrenaline from within.
And find what it takes to rejoin the rat race.
Hot Body Cool Mind, 1616 Walnut Street, suite 1407 (646-660-4769 or jenniferkries.com).

How Sweet It Is
CandyCoated Studio School of Decorative Art & Design
Last time you met a Candy, she could work a pole and had fluff for brains.
But if anyone can redeem the name, it’s Candy Depew.
The creator of new CandyCoated Studio School of Art & Design is a whip smart Renaissance woman with a slew of solo shows, commissions, and even a Pew grant under her belt.
Benefit from Depew’s genius in classes on decorative techniques like silk-screening, ceramics, and fabric design. Many courses run for just a few weeks, so they’re perfect for commitment phobes. Artists-in-residence and salon chats are in the works.
We’re really glad she’s spreading her love to Philly’s creative community.
It sure beats what the other Candy was spreading.
CandyCoated Studio School of Decorative Art & Design, 118 North Third Street, fourth floor (215-498-2153 or candycoated.org). Classes start November 6.

What’s Your Sign?
Heather Radawski’s Astrology Consultations
At a party you get painted into a corner when you’re asked, What’s your sign?
Incredibly, people still go there, then pretend to know what the hell they’re talking about when it comes to astrology.
Prove them wrong and call Heather Radawski. She’s no joke: She’s a member of the National Council for Geocosmic Research. When she did a reading for ever-skeptical us, we were blown away.
She gets the date, time, and place of your birth, then reads your astrological chart based on your questions about relationship, career, whatever. Then you set up an appointment to go over your chart.
Even though you’re a Cancer, you could have different tendencies based on your solar, rising, and lunar signs. (She explains what these actually are.)
And why all those magazine horoscopes are way off.
