Charitable Dining at Cause Philanthropub

Have your steak and donate, too

cause philanthropub!

Bar night can be a gamble.

But we’re betting on Cause, a two-story self-described philanthropub, where the pot goes to charity.

Here are the rules: Founders Nick Vilelle and Raj Ratwani and staff pull fixed salaries. Once food and operating costs have been covered, 100 percent of the profits goes to an organization in need.

Sink into a booth and dig into classic bar bites (wings, charcuterie). Take note of chef Adam Stein’s nightly specials (three-pound bone-in rib-eye for two, savory olive oil cake with apples and juniper cream), which guarantee a full house.

When it’s time to pay out, your receipt lists four potential charities, such as Common Good City Farm, Agora Partnerships, Martha’s Table, and Higher Achievement. Choose which one gets the monies from your meal.

Winner takes all.
