Q&A: Man Behind the Blog

Scout Sixteen's Justin Livingston

justin livingston!

Our first impression of Justin Livingston — the brains behind gentlemen’s style blog Scout Sixteen — was that homeboy is handsome.

And though we could browse pics of the NYC-based Mississippi native in layered ensembles and remixed classic outfits for hours, it’s the sweet honesty and wicked sense of humor in his posts that hooked us for good. (The fact that he shares our love for Cher Horowitz and Sonic’s strawberry limeade helps as well.)

Whether you’re a dude or member of the fairer sex, we suggest you bookmark and follow. You’re in for a treat.

Name: Justin Livingston

Neighborhood: Midtown West

Occupation: Digital media consultant, freelance writer

What’s the best meal you’ve ever eaten in New York?
I love to cook, but if I’m going out, the gnocchi from Lil’ Frankie’s is heavenly.

What is your New Year’s Resolution?
Curb my Diet Dr Pepper addiction.

Who’s the most stylish New Yorker living or dead, real or fictional?

That’s tough, because every New Yorker has their own flavor, but some of the people who consistently fascinate me are Nick Wooster, Jenna Lyons, Steven Rojas, Philip Crangi, and Taylor Tomasi Hill.

What is your greatest fear?
Crocs, both the shoes and the animal.

Weirdest thing you’ve seen or experienced living in NYC?
The infamous green-bearded man of Midtown sang “Happy Birthday” to me last year on a day that was most certainly not my birthday.

What was the last movie you saw?

The Queen of Versailles.

Trends you predict for 2013?

One, the use of more global, exotic prints; and two, more men taking an interest in style.

What is your spirit animal?
Otter. I’m pretty perceptive and driven, but I’m a playful people person when you boil me down.

What is your favorite piece of clothing?
Perforated Matt Bernson loafers and my Alexander Wang leather and wool jacket.

Favorite place to visit on vacation?
Italy — every bit of it.

Which fictional character would you most like to hang out with?
Penny Hartz, Casey Wilson’s hilarious character from Happy Endings.
