Work Every Muscle at Solidcore

D.C.’s first MegaFormer studio arrives in Adams Morgan

Attention, fellow desk jockeys. It’s time to get back in the saddle.

Solidcore brings the MegaFormer workout to D.C.

At the core of the no-impact fitness craze is a machine that’s a cross between a Pilates reformer and a seesaw.

Prepare to burn 600 to 800 calories per session (bring water). Owner Anne Mahlum and her trainers take a ten-person class through a 50-minute routine: We were sweating within the first ten and our core, arms, and legs turned to jelly by the twenty-minute mark — and that was before the planks and pikes.

Beyond her resolution-inducing taut abs, Mahlum inspires. She launched Back on My Feet, a national running program that challenges homeless individuals to change how they see themselves. Solidcore has a similar spirit: Attendees get positive coaching, hands-on corrections, and high fives.

Full speed ahead.
