Chills and Thrills

Scented Washcloths

Ready to head out on that road trip, toodle to the beach, or just brave the barbecue? Nope. You forgot something: relief.

You’ll soon be overheated, cranky, and kinda stinky. Then what? More sunscreen?

We found this nifty trick — so crazy simple you’ll wonder why you didn’t think of it sooner: frozen scented washcloths. Make them ahead of time, bring them with (there’s totally room in the cooler), and wipe down wherever you find yourself hot and bothered.

What you’ll need: several washcloths, a few drops — about one per cloth — of scented oil (lavender is soothing, eucalyptus and peppermint are invigorating), and a large bowl of water.

Directions: Soak towels in water. Wring out, roll up, freeze for a few hours. Pack in ziplock. Or use fresh.

Now if we could find a cabana boy to come dab your furrowed brow.

Thanks to Sandy Lane for inspiring the idea.
