There was a time, not so long ago, when only two things could force Northwest Washingtonians to venture into Southeast: the Redskins (R.I.P., RFK) and a wrong turn off of 395.
No longer. Former Dupont devotees (and their Chihuahuas) have swooped down on 8th Street — and show no sign of turning back.
Now they’ve got even less reason to go home: Homebody, a contemporary home furnishings store that will impress even the most discriminating red-line palate.
Products range from high-end items — sleek furniture from Gus Modern and graphic-print rugs from Angela Adams — to funky and functional housewares like antler candlesticks, colored glassware, recycled-paper vases, and quirky refrigerator magnets. And don’t miss the small gallery of contemporary Mexican art.
It may just be enough to make you consider switching quadrants permanently.
Which is much more than we can say for the Skins’s new digs.
Homebody, 715 8th Street SE, between G and I Streets (202-544-8445 or homebodydc.com).
