You don’t get in the middle of conversations about lobbyists. You’re not taking sides in Martha v. Donald. And you wouldn’t place bets on a Project Runway winner if your life depended on it.
But being neutral doesn’t have to be boring.
To wit: Nicholas K’s spring line, which features neutral-toned pieces with easygoing silhouettes. They’re simple and elegant but still have an unexpected twist.
The Christian tank looks like a basic beige wear-with-a-suit top in the front, but it is nearly backless save for some thin sparkly swags. The double-breasted Dwight blazer seems safe in white cotton with buttons, but the cropped length and rope belt give it just the right edge. And the Riley dress, with its spaghetti straps, flattering empire waist, and fun cotton-ball adornment, will have people declaring you a fashion maven in no time flat.
In which case, you should be prepared to make some Runway predictions after all.
