Copy Cat

Carbon Opens

You haven’t spied a carbon copy since the dawn of the digital age.

These days you just pop into Kinko’s, press a button, and presto: multiples galore.

If only finding shoes were that easy.

Well, things are looking up, because Carbon, the gem of a shoe shop with tragically limited space and stock, has just opened a second store in Woodley Park. The new place is more than twice the size and carries 100 styles for girls and boys.

Expect the same attentive service, laid-back atmosphere, and hard-to-find shoes (studded Miz Mooz wedges, vintage-inspired Tentazione heels, hand-tooled leather boots). Guys will love the casual Dutch Blackstone wingtips and deconstructed (but wearable) Italian-made Dry-Shod boots.

They’ve also made room for accessories from Latico, Velvet Messiah, and a whole host of other lines that you’ll find only at Carbon. Which means the rest of the city won’t be carrying your bag.

Whew to that. Nothing worse than feeling like a cheap copy.

Carbon, 2643 Connecticut Avenue NW, between Woodley Road and Calvert Street (202-232-6645).
