Pet Project

You’ve always dreamed of being a patron of the arts. Opening nights in couture Galliano. Your name on a wing of The Phillips Collection.

If only your pocketbook matched your ambitions.

ARTiculate Gallery’s new project, Every Dog Has Its Day, gives you the chance to live the dream.

The nonprofit is pairing ordinary folk (i.e., you) with vocational training students with developmental disabilities who create commissioned portraits of your pet. Just send the gallery a photo of Fido, Kitty, or Tweety, and choose a size and the style (representational, abstract, traditional, or pop).

Or, in true patronly fashion, let the artist decide what works best.

Your piece will be displayed in a monthlong exhibition, after which you can add it to the permanent collection at your home.

You know, between the Degas and Van Gogh posters.

Every Dog Has Its Day, ARTiculate Gallery, 1100 16th Street NW, corner of L and 16th Streets (202-261-0204 or wvsarts.org). Orders must be received by November 1. Exhibition opens November 16.
