Your reluctance to let go of the past (a certain booty-calling ex-boyfriend in particular) has led some to label you a pathetic loser.
You prefer “history buff.”
Either way, it’s time to temper your nostalgia with some forward-thinking style. Start with Liza Rietz’s new clothing line, which seamlessly blends references of the past into the present.
A Victorian-inspired pullover dress with balloon sleeves provides equal parts warmth and cuteness. An innocent bib jumper looks au courant with a blouse, leggings, and boots. And a pencil skirt with an elongated cummerbund is a wearable throwback to the Jazz Age. Complete the look with a ’20s-style pleated wool cloche that fits snugly over the ears.
Each piece feels modern but gives props to our sartorial ancestory. It would seem Rietz understands that those who don’t remember the past are doomed to repeat it.
But, then, you already knew that.
