Divine Intervention

Divine Chocolate

You’re not proud of your sugar addiction.

Which may be why you hide the gummy bears in the car and the cookies under the bed.

But now there’s a candy you can feel good about: Divine Chocolate, which just landed in D.C.

The Fair Trade sweets are made from cocoa beans grown by Ghanaian Kuapa Kokoo farmers who own part of the confections company and use profits to support their socially responsible mission to keep farmers independent.

As if that weren’t reason enough to eat, the candy bar flavors include mint dark chocolate (with peppermint oil and crunchy mint pieces), 70 percent dark chocolate (which is vegan), and hazelnut milk chocolate (with roasted nuts). Divine also sells gift sets and seasonal products like foil-wrapped eggs. Ingredients are all natural, from pure cocoa butter and real vanilla to Fair Trade sugar from Malawi.

Since you’re helping a cause, you’ll want to snack in the open.

Admitting the problem is the first step, after all.

Available at Pangea Artisan Market & Cafe, 2121 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, at  21st Street (202-872-6432); online at divinechocolateusa.com
