So it won’t shock anyone when you flip for The Carson Bag, a roomy new drawstring tote in fun colors and patterns.

Designer Patty Smith works with RISD students, artists, and textile designers to create limited-edition runs of screen-printed fabrics and colored leathers. Standouts include a red polka-dot pattern, a green and white geometrical design, and an Hermès-esque orange leather. All are lined with equally eye-catching fabrics (stripes, dots, and bright suede).

The carryalls have a classic shape, an adjustable leather strap, and a reasonable price tag, making them practical as well as chic.
