You don’t booze in a park (not without a brown paper bag). And picnics leave you covered in bug bites and grass stains.
But you can do both (without police citations and pestilence) at The Park at 14th.
The resto doesn’t open until mid-February, but the lounge is ready for business. And they’re giving away samples of soon-to-come entrees Tuesday through Friday evenings.
Comfort dishes on offer will include tomato bisque with grilled cheese sammies, Kobe burgers, andouille corn dogs, and homemade cinnamon-sugar donuts with espresso cream.
Once the dining room opens, you can sit on the first or second floor, where light fixtures made of glass serving dishes add warmth to the dark wood paneling. Soaring windows overlooking Franklin Park give you a bird’s-eye view of what’s happening below.
So you can take pity on those poor park-goers.
