Everyone knows why six was afraid of seven. (’Cause seven ate nine. Duh.)
But who could blame him? Especially if he was eating at new fusion resto Asia Nine.
The grandiose space, which opens tomorrow, houses a bright red sushi bar in front, a mauve and gold dining room, a granite-topped bar, and a posh VIP room with its own bar on the second floor. Oh, and don’t forget the eight-foot-tall figure “9.”
The menu nods to Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Thai cuisines. Sushi lovers will appreciate creative combos like the Red Stone Roll, which gets crunch from spicy tuna tempura. For the squeamish, there are curries, salads, and the soy-glazed Salmon en Papillote.
Throw in 40 sake varieties and seductive desserts, and one thing’s clear.
It all adds up to something good.
Asia Nine, 915 E Street NW, between 9th and 10th Streets (202-629-4355).
