Glass Act

Recycle Your Glass Classes

It’s been said that people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

But sometimes you just can’t help it.

So if you find yourself standing in a sea of shards, gather them up and get on over to the Washington Glass School. The school offers classes in turning old glass into treasures. Students are encouraged to bring their own materials, so the box of bits in your cabinet can become your own work of art.

The three-class session teaches the techniques of heating, fusing, and casting glass. Students learn about coloring and firing before making sculptures, jewelry, vases, and dishware.

Best of all, you’ll have a new way to express yourself.

Just don’t break that heart of glass.

The Washington Glass School, 3700 Otis Street, Mount Rainier (202-744-8222 or washingtonglassschool.com). Next session starts July 3, 7-9:30 p.m.
