Sure, you’ve been involved in food negotiations. Early on, it was chocolate milk for chips; more recently, it’s gooey pizza for Lean Cuisine.

Take that trader’s instinct to the next level at Sub-urban Trading Co., a modern, organic-minded take on the good old general store. The owners (a mom and son with culinary backgrounds) stock locally sourced meats, produce, dairy, bread, and assorted gourmet items.

The front display case houses a sugary onslaught of pies, pastries, tarts, and cookies, all fresh baked.

Prep for a late-summer picnic with local cheeses from Keswick Creamery or take care of dinner with the daily takeout meal (coming soon). A full-service butcher case will beef up your own cooking.
