Moon Shine

Lavender Moon Cupcakery

Despite that meager bank statement, your diet of chocolate breakfast cereal, candy lunches, and fruit juice cocktails makes you a bona fide sugar mama.

It’s time for a treat that’s decidedly more wholesome.

Lavender Moon Cupcakery takes the cupcake back to what it should be. Using organic ingredients where possible, baker Peter Durkin creates homey confections with as little sugar as possible.

The chocolate mint delight uses mint leaves from the garden rather than extract, while lemon thyme has little green flecks of herbs throughout. Durkin also brings back retro concoctions like the hummingbird, rich with pineapple.

Wash it all down with a home-brewed tea from Peter’s wife, Tammy, who is often on hand to welcome customers and offer recommendations on the day’s best flavors.

Think of it as a hostess’s cupcake.

Lavender Moon Cupcakery, 116 South Royal Street, Alexandria.
