Teacher’s Pet

Some say that those who can’t do, teach. But they’re just jealous bastards.

The two aren’t mutually exclusive, so if you can do — and care to share — Sitar Arts Center needs your help.

The nonprofit offers visual and performing arts classes to underprivileged children. And it’s currently recruiting teachers who know a thing or two about tap dancing, guitar, stand-up comedy, Web design, or knitting.

To qualify, volunteers must have at least three years’ experience (i.e., your childhood spent in spangled leotards) and commit to one hour a week for sixteen weeks.

Intimidated? The center also accepts donations of gently used instruments, dance gear, art materials, and school supplies, so there’s no sense in dawdling.

Just do it.
