A long time ago, you learned to write.
Because of your giving nature, you’d like to pay that skill forward.
Capitol Letters Writing Center hopes you’ll volunteer.
Donate your time by visiting schools to teach students about creative writing, slam poetry, and more.
Extra crafty students from certain programs can even contribute to a bound collection of works.
Fun is the goal, be it songwriting, rhyming, or biography classes.
Give donations of needed supplies if you’re not up for volunteering.
Helpers are needed to fill a variety of other roles, from bookkeeping to accounting.
In the future, there will be a full center with in-house workshops.
Just do the write thing.
For more information, go to capitolletters.org. The next volunteer orientation is Thursday, 6:30 p.m., at the interim Shaw Library, 945 Rhode Island Avenue NW, between 9th and 10th Streets.
