In a Bind

As the woman hiding her saucy romance novel behind a newspaper on the Metro will attest, you actually can judge a book by its cover.

So cover your bases with art that represents you.

Local bookbinder Katie Wagner can bind nearly anything into a volume, diary, or agenda using antique presses and techniques.

Take in a favorite memento or image and she will fashion a piece around it. A sucker for Samoas? An empty cookie box will produce a tribute to your favorite sweet. Candy wrappers or old Tiger Beat pages could work, too.

In addition to custom projects, Wagner offers an array of premade works, including crafty build-your-own-cover Lego tomes in a rainbow of colors.

Though you might have to Lego your ego for that one.
