What: Housed in a former firehouse, the just-opened restaurant and bar launches a few too-hot-to-handle happy hours.
Why: Half-price burgers ($4.50) on Mondays, $2.50 pints on Tuesdays, and half-price bottles ($12-$14) of wine on Wednesdays.

What: Edward Ugel, the D.C.-based author who brought you the unbelievable Money for Nothing, reads from his new work ($24).
Why: The hilarious, irreverent book chronicles the food-obsessed writer’s journey as he tries to slim down from 263 pounds. We particularly enjoyed his run-ins with ice cream parlor employees and colonic givers.

Rendezvous at The Ritz
What: Kick it on a sofa and watch for VIPs while sipping half-price cocktails ($7) inside Degrees Bar & Lounge.
