Lava Me Tender
Hot Lava Pedicure

You’ve bungeed at Victoria Falls. Skydived over the Alps. Hiked through the Andes.
You’re a regular daredevil.
The one thing you won’t do: get a pedicure in a nasty old tub. (When you said you liked close encounters with nature, you didn’t mean bacteria on your toes.)
Nia Cooper’s hot lava pedicure at the Erwin Gomez Salon & Spa gives you all the excitement of a volcanic eruption — without the risk of a fungal one (really, ew).
The treatment begins with a long soak with heated lava rocks and a good cleaning with lemons and limes. Next comes cuticle softening and nail filing (with cootie-free disposable tools), followed by a scrub, massage, and a warm wax mask. The whole adventure ends with the polish of your choice.
While your nails are drying, explore the newly expanded salon’s services: hair, makeup, massages, body treatments, and, of course, waxing.
Considered by many to be a hair-raising adventure of its own.
Available at Erwin Gomez Salon & Spa, 1519 Wisconsin Avenue NW, between P and Q Streets (202-333-7290).
