Candle #1

light my fire!

You stayed up all night cooking a four-course dinner, setting the table, arranging the flowers, and burning a playlist.

And at T-minus fifteen minutes, you realize the candles you have don’t fit grandma’s heirloom sterling sticks.

That’s what you get for burning it at both ends. Next time try Candle #1. It looks like a traditional candle and an ornate candle holder, but it’s actually an all-in-one piece made of molded wax. Uber cool.

You can get one in black, white, and red. Use it to add a little humor (and a shot of hip) to a regulation china-silver-crystal table setting.

It could upstage the flowers and your secret-recipe souffle. But it will make your dinner party shopping list one item shorter.

Which may be just the thing you need to avoid hostess burnout.

Available at Apartment Zero, 406 7th Street NW, between D and E Streets (202-628-4067).
